Her Story

A lifetime in Davis County.

Kara Toone has called Davis County home for virtually her entire life. Growing up here, she learned what it means to be part of a community that looks out for one another. She attended Viewmont High School, where she built friendships and developed the leadership instincts that would define her career.

Davis County is not just where she grew up — it is who she is.

From neighborhood block parties to school hallways, Kara was always the one organizing, listening, and bringing people together. Those formative years gave her something no resume can capture: a deep, personal understanding of the people, the neighborhoods, and the values that make this part of Utah special.

Education

A Lifelong Learner

Kara's belief in the power of education is not abstract — it is deeply personal. She has spent her life investing in learning, earning degrees across Utah's public institutions and ultimately pursuing a Master's in Public Policy to better serve her community.

Kara began her higher education journey at Snow College, one of Utah's most respected two-year institutions. It was here she discovered her passion for civic engagement and community-centered work.

At Weber State, Kara earned her bachelor's degree and deepened her understanding of policy, education, and public service — all within the community she calls home.

Kara's graduate work at the University of Utah gave her the analytical framework and policy expertise to tackle the complex challenges facing Utah families — from education funding to housing affordability to infrastructure growth.

Family

A Clearfield Family

Kara and her husband Logan have built their life together in Clearfield, the community they have proudly called home since 2003 — more than twenty years of raising a family, investing in their neighborhood, and showing up for their neighbors.

When your representative is your neighbor, you get someone who truly understands what is at stake.

Together, they are raising four children in the same schools, parks, and neighborhoods where Kara has spent most of her own life. Their kids play on local sports teams, attend local schools, and are growing up with the same small-town values that shaped Kara's childhood in Davis County.

For Kara, this is not a campaign talking point — it is her daily life. She drives the same roads, shops at the same stores, and worries about the same things every other parent in HD14 worries about: Are our schools strong enough? Are our neighborhoods safe? Can our kids afford to build their own lives here someday?

That is why she is running. Because when your representative is your neighbor, you get someone who truly understands what is at stake.

Career & Community

Serving ~67,000 Students

As Executive Director of the Davis Education Foundation, Kara works at the intersection of education, community, and policy every single day. She collaborates with educators, families, business leaders, and community partners to strengthen outcomes for approximately 67,000 students across the Davis School District — one of the largest in Utah.

Her work is not behind a desk in Salt Lake City. It is in school board meetings, parent-teacher conferences, community roundtables, and legislative hearings. She understands how policy decisions in the Capitol ripple through classrooms, cafeterias, and family dinner tables.

Beyond her role at the Foundation, Kara chairs the Davis Chamber of Commerce Legislative Affairs Committee, connecting local business priorities to state-level decision-making. She has spent over 20 years serving the Clearfield and Syracuse communities — not for a title, but because she believes in showing up.

A Proven Republican Leader

Kara has not just voted Republican — she has built the Republican Party from the ground up in Davis County. From precinct chair to state delegate, from organizing conventions to mentoring the next generation of conservative women leaders, she has put in the work that most people never see.

Why She's Running

Kara first ran for this seat in 2022 because she believed the people of House District 14 deserved a representative who would listen — truly listen — to their concerns. That conviction has not changed. If anything, it has grown stronger.

She is running because she has seen firsthand what happens when communities do not have a voice at the table. She has watched housing costs climb, infrastructure strain under growth, and families struggle to keep up. She knows that real solutions come from leaders who live the same challenges as the people they represent.

Kara is committed to being accessible, responsive, and present. Not a politician who disappears between elections, but a neighbor who picks up the phone, shows up to meetings, and fights for the priorities that matter to Clearfield, Syracuse, and the families of HD14.
