Education leader. Community builder. Mother of four. A lifelong Davis County resident running to bring real representation to House District 14.
Education leader. Community builder. Mother of four. A lifelong Davis County resident running to bring real representation to House District 14.
Kara Toone has called Davis County home for virtually her entire life. Growing up here, she learned what it means to be part of a community that looks out for one another. She attended Viewmont High School, where she built friendships and developed the leadership instincts that would define her career.
Kara's belief in the power of education is not abstract — it is deeply personal. She has spent her life investing in learning, earning degrees across Utah's public institutions and ultimately pursuing a Master's in Public Policy to better serve her community.
Kara began her higher education journey at Snow College, one of Utah's most respected two-year institutions. It was here she discovered her passion for civic engagement and community-centered work.
At Weber State, Kara earned her bachelor's degree and deepened her understanding of policy, education, and public service — all within the community she calls home.
Kara's graduate work at the University of Utah gave her the analytical framework and policy expertise to tackle the complex challenges facing Utah families — from education funding to housing affordability to infrastructure growth.
Kara and her husband Logan have built their life together in Clearfield, the community they have proudly called home since 2003 — more than twenty years of raising a family, investing in their neighborhood, and showing up for their neighbors.
As Executive Director of the Davis Education Foundation, Kara works at the intersection of education, community, and policy every single day. She collaborates with educators, families, business leaders, and community partners to strengthen outcomes for approximately 67,000 students across the Davis School District — one of the largest in Utah.
Kara has not just voted Republican — she has built the Republican Party from the ground up in Davis County. From precinct chair to state delegate, from organizing conventions to mentoring the next generation of conservative women leaders, she has put in the work that most people never see.
“House District 14 has been my home for most of my life, and I care deeply about the people who live here.”— Kara Toone
Kara first ran for this seat in 2022 because she believed the people of House District 14 deserved a representative who would listen — truly listen — to their concerns. That conviction has not changed. If anything, it has grown stronger.

Nothing beats seeing the pride on these students' faces. Education isn't just policy — it's our future. Proud to serve ~67,000 students in Davis County.
Enjoying a beautiful Davis County afternoon. This is the community I've called home for 40+ years — and the one I'll fight for every day in the legislature.
My why. Everything I do is for families like ours — raising kids in Clearfield, building a life in the community we love.
20+ years in Clearfield with my best friend and partner Logan. Grateful for roots this deep.
Family first, always. Our four kids are growing up in the same schools and parks that shaped my own life here in Davis County.
Campaign fuel. The best conversations happen over ice cream — whether it's with voters or with my own crew.
